I have indeed. I have been to the top of quite a few volcanoes. There are some that I have only been a bit of the way up though, because they have been erupting when I was there, like the Soufrière Hills in Montserrat, and Volcan de Fuego in Guatemala.
I climbed up Gunung Rinjani in Indonesia in 2002. I went with an Indonesian guide who cooked eggs for me everyday! I really have no idea how me managed to keep them from breaking while carrying all his other gear.
I’ve been to the top of Kilauea in Hawaii. Its not really a typical volcano as you think of them though – its more like a flat plain than a mountain. In fact, its sometimes called “the worlds only drive-in volcano”. Its a pretty cool place, where you can see the big caldera, lava flows and roads covered in old, solidified lava.
