• Question: So in your studies what have you found out how it effects the liver and the brains and have you found out a cure yet?

      Well, the virus seems to infect the brain and liver, but the thing is, the cells in the brain and liver have loads in common. They both have this special ‘glue’ that sticks the cells together so that blood isn’t able to go between the cells. It turns out, Hepatitis C virus also likes to stick to the glue and this is the way it gets into the cells to infect them. So now I am testing loads of different drugs that are new and are just becoming available in hospitals to see if they can cure the brain as well as the liver. We don’t have a perfect cure yet, but we are able to cure some people of Hepatitis C.
